“Name’s Jerry. Welder. Mostly pipelines, but I’ll weld anything to anything else. Got my own little company.”
That claim energizes Webbie, who seems to take it as a challenge of some sort.
“Can you weld aluminum to lead?”
“Yeah, I can. You have to clean everything real good, and use an electron beam welder. You gotta pre-heat and use a faster weld speed, but you can do it. Mostly I’d recommend a good adhesive bond.’
“How ‘bout stainless to titanium?”
Jerry seems a bit exasperated.
“That too. It’s tricky, but I can do that with an electron beamer.”
“How ‘bout pewter to molybdenum?”
“How ‘bout I weld your head to the table?”
Angela steps in.
“Now, now boys. No need for that. I’m sure Jerry’s a very good welder.”
There we go. Two new friends for Angela.
